How did you get into sound & energy healing?

I have always been sensitive to energies, and at times truly awestruck by beautiful moments of connectedness cultivated through yoga practice, meditation, and even just walks outside in nature. Incredible experiences that go beyond the mind.

Sound baths, energy work, meditation and mindfulness practices have helped support me through periods of burnout, depression and anxiety with powerful impact. They have become trusted tools (and friends) for intentionally balancing and uplifting my internal world, which then ripples into my external world.

During a particularly low time I went for a walk in the park and took a photograph of a flower as it had made me smile. When I got home I used that photo and started playing with mirror images.

What happened next was amazing!

When I flipped the photo around and mirrored it four ways it created the most beautiful, intricate patterns and colours… and that image, those patterns felt alive to me… they emitted an energy, an aliveness that I could feel, it was a tangible sensation which instantly lifted my spirits!

Over the next ten years I used my creative practice as an artist to explore this “Aliveness Of Light” .

My exploration led me to the work of mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot, the Fractal Geometry of Nature, and eventually on to Quantum Physics which suggests the interconnectedness of all things and beings and the connection of our minds with a cosmic mind.

I found myself working with light, water and sound as a means of expressing energy which is felt but not seen.

What is energy?

Everything is energy! You, me, the rocks, the trees, the sky… and everything in between.

Emotions, music, dancing, moments shared with family, friends & loved ones, loosing & finding yourself on the dancefloor, when your eyes meet with someone across a room and you feel that spark through your whole body, watching the sun rise and set, hearing the birds sing, the rush you get when you’re learning to surf and you catch that first wave and feel so so alive, laughing with your friends and in the middle of laughing you notice that pause when your heart swells with how much you love them and how grateful you are for having them in your life, through all the highs & lows, and how seen and held and understood you feel just by being in their presence.

It’s all energy.

And then…

The opportunity came up to study sound healing & reiki with Maria. It was the obvious next step.

It has been such a fascinating journey to deepdive into the history, application and nuance of sound and frequency, as well as its profound potential for healing and transformation. I love how modern science continues to shed the light of understanding upon ancient wisdom. I believe our best future exists in weaving these together.

The word “magic” is believed to originate from the Proto-Indo-European root “magh” meaning “to be able, to have power”.

I believe that we all have the power within us to understand, alchemise and heal our internal landscapes in order to become the best version of ourselves.
